SSG (RET) MONIQUE DAWN BOYD Monique Dawn Boyd, 50, of Belton, passed away on Saturday February 15, 2014 in a Temple hospice facility surrounded by her loving family and friends. After a valiant battle, she succumbed to cancer. She was born on August 27, 1963 in Hawthorne, California to Justine Lentini (Boyd) and Don R. Boyd. Services will be held at 2.pm Thursday, February 20th at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen with full military honors. She proudly served her country in the U.S. Army from 1986-2006 including tours of duty in Iraq, Bosnia, Turkey, and Germany. She loved her job as a letter carrier for the Temple Post Office. She loved her family and friends and held a very special bond with beloved Dachshund, Casey. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Temple VA Emergency Department, her Oncology Specialist Juan Posada, MD as well as the physicians and nursing staff on Ward 3J and the Hospice Unit. In addition, the family would like to sincerely thank LTC (Ret) Nancy Hartwig for being there for Monique during her chemotherapy treatments as well as the many hospitalizations and multiple trips to the ER since her diagnosis in April, 2013. She has been a "rock" to both Monique and the family during this most difficult time. Survivors include her parents,Justine Lentini of Belton and Don Boyd and his wife Lon Boyd of Ventura, Ca.; four sisters, Lynn Bova and her husband and their six children of Ventura, Tiffany Boyington and her husband and their two children of Downy, Ca; Jeana Lovell and her husband and their two children of Hamden, Connecticut and Jonette Kruse and her husband and their five children of Concord, Ca.: two brothers, Matt Boyd and his wife of Ventura and their two children and Jimmy Wilder and his wife and their six children of Boynton, FL. Monique Boyd was preceded in death, by her brother, Craig Boyd on October 21, 2003.
