Darwin ""Ted"" Heine

Darwin (Ted) Heine, 62 of Belton, TX, passed away on June 13, 2020 at St. David's Medical Center in Austin, TX following a three-year battle with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. He faced each hurdle with humor and positivity. He was determined to enjoy every moment of life. Ted was born on December 9, 1957 in Parris Island, SC to the late, Darwin Walter and Shirley Ann Heine. He grew up in Clearwater, FL and graduated from Dunedin High School in 1975. Ted went on to study and play baseball at Brevard Junior College, St. Petersburg College and the University of South Florida. He held the state record for home runs hit in a single season for several years and which earned him the title, ""Timber Ted"". Ted met his beloved wife, Erin Doherty in 1988. The couple relocated to Houston, TX and married five years later on February 27, 1993. They soon welcomed twins, Joshua and Taylor. He joined Mac Haik Auto Group in 1995 where he worked for over two decades. He transferred to the Central Texas area in 2003, where his love for people, unwavering positivity and leadership earned him the affectionate nickname, ""Coach"". Throughout his career, he and his colleagues brought joy to the communities they served, putting vehicles into thousands of driveways throughout the Texas Hill Country. In his spare time, Ted loved connecting with his loved ones and sharing his passion for being outdoors. Any day he could spend hunting, fishing or playing golf with his family or friends, he considered one of the best days ever. As a fan of all sports and his children's biggest cheerleader, his son and daughter could always find their father in the stands rooting them on. Ted had a charitable heart, infectious personality, and wicked sense of humor. Whenever he encountered someone in need, he felt that God placed him at that specific place in time to lend a helping hand. Ted's authenticity, and caring personality allowed him to make friends everywhere he went. He had such an ease about him, loved to laugh and nothing was off limits. His family fondly remembers him saying something wildly inappropriate, sipping his dirty martini (the dirtier, the better), pausing long enough for everyone to get in on the joke, and tossing his head back laughing. Ted's beautiful spirit touched the lives of so many around him. His legacy will live on through the precious memories of his family and friends. No words can quantify how extraordinary Ted was, but if you had the pleasure of knowing him, he could remind you of how extraordinary an ""ordinary"" life could be. He is survived by his loving wife, Erin Heine, Belton, TX; son, Joshua Heine, Atlanta, GA; daughter, Taylor Heine and fiancé, Nicholas Nissen, Minot, ND; brother, James (Barbara) Heine, Fayetteville, NC; sister, Vonda (Mike) Lee, Little Torch Key, FL; and his nieces and nephews whom he adored and never missed an opportunity to brag about. A social distance style Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, June 28, 2020 from 3-6:00 P.M. at The Shed in Salado, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society to help fund blood cancer research grants and clinical trials.
