Patrick Joseph Dyar

Patrick Joseph Dyar, 87, of Temple, TX passed away on Monday, August 24, 2020 in a local nursing home. Pat was born to Joseph Patrick and Helen Monica Walter Dyar on March 16, 1933 in Marietta, Ohio. Pat graduated St. Mary's High School before serving in the United States Army. He was stationed in the Panama Canal Zone during the Korean Conflict then returned to his wife (Ann) Marlene McCauley Dyar in Marietta. Pat worked at Union Carbide Chemicals in Marietta for 39 years, retiring as plant maintenance foreman. Pat was a family man who loved the outdoors. His favorite memories would include the many weekends camping at Wolf Run State Park with his family and friends. He also enjoyed hunting, canoeing and cross-country skiing. When Pat was not enjoying the outdoors, he enjoyed woodworking and creating stained glass artwork. His life was full of family and friends who will remember him as a fun-loving man who could be counted on in any crisis. Pat was active in American Legion Post 64 in Marietta, Ohio. He served as the post chaplain and on funeral detail for many years, and he also proudly served in the post color guard carrying the American flag during city parades and for flag raisings during local football games. Patrick is survived by his wife of 67 years, Ann "Marlene" Dyar of Temple, his daughters; Michele Dyar of Pompton Lakes, NJ, and Tammy Gannon and husband Gary of Montgomery, TX; his sister, Marjorie Clatterbuck and husband Richard of Marietta; his sister-in-law, Judith McCauley Urich and husband Tom of Valley Village, CA; and by his brother-in-law George Oberle of Gooding, ID. His grandchildren include: Trevor Clayton of Denver, Angela Clayton of Temple, Kimberly Gannon of Corpus Christi and, Thomas Gannon and wife Megan of Olive Branch, MS; and by great-grandchildren Hayley Gannon and Grace Gannon. Patrick was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister Martha Jane Oberle. The family will be holding private services.
