SPC Yingming Sun

SPC Yingming Sun ,25, of Copperas Cove passed away Thursday, June 2, 2016 during a training accident after a military vehicle overturned during flash flooding. A visitation for SPC Yingming Sun will be held 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at Crotty Funeral Home in Belton. A funeral service will follow at 3:00 P.M. on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen with Chaplain Lu officiating. SPC Yingming Sun was born on July 19, 1990 to Hong and Wenping Sun in China. He entered active-duty military service in October of 2013 as a motor transport operator and was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 16th Field Artillery Regiment, 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, since August 2014. Sun's awards and decorations include National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal, Korea Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, and Overseas Service Ribbon. He married his wife Caiyu Li on April 8, 2015 in China. SPC Yingming Sun is survived by his loving wife, Caiyu Li of China;his father, Hong Sun of China;his mother, Wenping Zhang of China.
