Alberta Georgette Lara ,60, of Harker Heights, a loving mother and grandmother, passed away on January 10, 2024, in a Harker Heights medical center. Born on September 20, 1963, in Ponca City, Oklahoma, Alberta lived a life filled with passion for her family and an unwavering dedication to her career.

Alberta had a remarkable career as a truck driver. She spent the majority of her life working for Burlington until her  retirement in 1993. Her commitment and work ethic were evident throughout her years of service.

Family was Alberta's greatest joy in life, and she cherished every moment spent with her loved ones. She particularly adored her grandchildren and found immense happiness in their presence. Alberta's warmth and love created bonds that will be cherished forever.

Outside of work and family, Alberta enjoyed pursuing various interests. She possessed artistic talent and would create beautiful Native jewelry which could captivate anyone who laid eyes upon it. Additionally, she was an active member of a pool league where she showcased both skill and sportsmanship. Playing Bingo was another source of delight for Alberta. Furthermore, she had an infectious love for dance and appreciated the beauty found in diverse music genres.

One of Alberta's proudest accomplishments was being a member of The Ponca Tribe of Indians of Oklahoma. Through this affiliation, she celebrated her heritage with dignity and grace.

On January 18, 2024, a graveside service to honor Alberta's life will be held at the Little River-Wilson Valley Cemetery in Little River-Academy, Texas. The Graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM . It will be an opportunity for friends and family members to gather together and reminisce about the beautiful memories shared with Alberta.

Alberta Georgette Lara is survived by four daughters: Pauline Cruz, Rhonda Lara, Rufina Lara, all of Harker Heights and Georgia Diaz of Belton. Additionally, she is survived by her son, Jake Daniel Lara Jr. of Clanton, AL.; Sierra King of Ponca City, Rhonda Curry and Keno Thomsen both of Dill City, OK., Dave Suratt of Pawnee, OK.; twenty grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. Alberta's impact on the lives of her children will forever be treasured.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Woodrow and Pauline King ; one granddaughter Sandra Martinez on June 1, 2005 and one sister, Barbara King on October 3, 2021.

Surrounded by her loving family, Alberta Georgette Lara has left an indelible mark on all those who had the fortune of knowing her. Her legacy will live on through her loved ones and the memories that were created together. She will forever be remembered as a loving mother, a cherished grandmother, and a kind-hearted individual who touched the lives of many.
