Alfonso "Al" Lopez, Jr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on January 15, 2024, in Temple. To honor and remember Al's life, a visitation will be held on January 19, 2024. Family and friends are invited to gather from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Crotty Funeral Home & Cremation Services,  5431 U.S. Hwy 190 in Belton, Texas.  A funeral service will take place at 1:00PM, January 20, 2024 at Crotty Funeral Home & Cremation Services.  Burial will follow at  North Belton Cemetery located at 1500 N Main St in Belton.

Alfonso was born May 1, 1962, in Lubbock, Texas to Alfonso, Sr. and Mary Helen Jack Lopez. Al was a simple man with a rough exterior but had a huge and kind heart. Al lived a modest life and found joy in the small things. He had a passion for helping others and always went out of his way to lend a helping hand.

Throughout his life, Al pursued various careers. He worked as a spot welder at Artco Bell and also served as a prep cook at Burger King. Whether he was working with his hands or behind the grill, Al approached each job with diligence and dedication. His strong work ethic left an indelible mark on those who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Outside of work, Al had a love for classic rock n' roll and was particularly fond of 80's rock bands. Music was his escape and source of inspiration. He could often be found lost in the sounds of a loud rock song that brought him comfort and joy.

In challenging times or moments of celebration, Al was there for his family and friends without hesitation. His unconditional love knew no bounds. Al was preceded in death by his father, Alfonso Lopez Sr.; his brother, Amos Lopez, and his granddaughter, Destiny Elena Alcozer.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 34 years, Alice Trevino. Together they created a beautiful life filled with love and support. Also mourning the loss are his mother Mary Helen Lopez; daughters, Andrea Lopez, Alisa Lopez (and her husband Simon Alcozer), Alana Flores (and her husband Robert), Allison Grainger (and her husband Stephen); brother, Benny Lopez; sisters, Diane Rodriguez (and her husband Anthony Romero) and Valerie Cervantez (and her husband Mike); and 17 adoring grandchildren: Bryson, Bentley, Liliana, Victoria, Nettie, Kalani, Nohea, Zachariah, Josiah, Messiah, Jeremiah, Analisa "Chita", Khole, Carlos, Cesario, Carman, and Aurora. Al also leaves behind numerous other loving family members and friends who will miss him dearly.

Al was known to leave his beloved wife special notes on the bathroom mirror.  One of her favorites was, "Together forever never apart maybe in distance but never at heart!"

Alfonso "Al" Lopez Jr., with his rough exterior but gentle soul, brought light into the lives of all who knew him. His humor, generosity, and unwavering love touched countless hearts. Though he may no longer be beside us physically, his spirit will continue to guide us all. In his memory, let us strive to find joy in the small things as Al did and extend a helping hand to those in need.

May Alfonso "Al" Lopez Jr.'s soul rest in eternal peace.
