“Are you the person I am talking to?” — this was the charming and unmistakable greeting you’d hear from Tom Snow on a phone call. Sadly, we will no longer hear those familiar words, as Tom passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 25, 2025, at the age of 82. In a touching farewell, George Strait’s “The Cowboy Rides Away” played on the radio as his beloved grandson, Clay Rhoads, sat by his side.
Tom was born on July 13, 1943, to Furney and Valda Snow in Saint Jo, Texas. He grew up in Loving and graduated from Graham High School. One of eight siblings, Tom was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers—Bud, Don, Ray, and Haven—and two sisters, Peggy Snow and Patsy Doughtery. He is survived by his sister, Linda Crayton of Loving. He was also preceded in death by his children Stacey Jane Snow and Gregory Allen Snow. He is survived by his son, Christopher Shea Snow of Memphis, Tennessee.
Tom led a vibrant life full of joy, music, and stories. Known for his quick wit and warm heart, he had a special talent for making people feel seen and loved—often through playful nicknames, like calling his niece-in-law Tiffany Snow “Dolly Parton.”
He enjoyed a long and proud career with Delta Airlines, often sharing fond memories, especially of trips taken with his mother. Tom found a lifelong love in Evaline Bartek, his high school sweetheart. Together, they shared the joy of their grandson Clay, whom they often took on memorable summer adventures to Colorado for fishing and hunting.
In retirement, Tom lived in Loving for a time before settling in Donna, Texas. He was deeply grateful for the friendship and support of his neighbor, Gary Baker, and treasured visits from cousin Billy Mike Norman and many others.
Tom was a man rich in friendship, love, and gratitude. His final wish was to have his ashes spread at Twin Lakes, where Evaline’s ashes were laid to rest, with no memorial service.
He leaves behind a legacy of laughter, love, and storytelling that will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
