Ashley Leann Nance-Karl, lovingly known as Ashley, was tragically taken from this world far too soon on September 17, 2026, in Troy, Texas, at the age of 38. Born on November 8, 1987, in Temple, Texas, Ashley lived a life filled with love, laughter, strength, and a spirit that was impossible to forget.

Her family described Ashley as “the loud light in every room.” She had a voice that was always heard, a laugh that could fill any space, and a personality that made her impossible to miss. She did not just light up a room—she brought it to life. Her lightning bolt tattoo was a fitting reflection of who she was: bold, vibrant, and unforgettable. Ashley had a way of making people feel welcome, and she was a friend to everyone. Whether through her laughter, her kindness, or simply her presence, she made an impression that will never fade.

A 2006 graduate of Temple High School, Ashley carried her strong work ethic and caring heart into everything she did. She most recently worked in the cafeteria at Troy Elementary School, where she enjoyed being around children and serving her school community. Her love for children extended far beyond her work, reflecting the warmth and compassion that came so naturally to her.

Above all else, Ashley’s greatest pride and joy were her four children: Jonathan Nance-Karl Jr., Frank Nance-Karl, Bentley Nance-Karl, and Alexis Nance-Karl. They were the center of her world and the greatest loves of her life. She poured her heart into being their mother, loving them fiercely and unconditionally. The love she gave them will remain a part of who they are, carried in their hearts through every chapter of their lives.

Ashley also shared a deep love for her family and treasured the relationships that shaped her life. Her brother, Glenn Willis Jr., and his wife, Shannon; her sister, Estella Juarez, and her husband, Ray; her stepfather, John Bush; and many cherished family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Glenn Willis Sr. and Mary Bush.

Ashley was a Christian, and her faith was an important part of her life. She carried a strength that helped her face life’s challenges, and she had a heart that continued to give even through difficult times. Her love for others, her loyalty to those closest to her, and her ability to find joy in everyday moments were among the many things that made her so special.

Anyone who knew Ashley knew she loved to shop. From purses and thrift-store treasures to just about any kind of shopping, she enjoyed finding things that brought her happiness. She loved all kinds of music, adored the color purple, and had a special love for cheetah print. Her favorite things reflected her personality perfectly—bold, colorful, and full of life.

But what made Ashley truly unforgettable was not what she owned or the things she loved. It was the way she made people feel. She was the friend who made you laugh, the mother who loved without limits, the sister who treasured her family, and the woman whose presence could brighten even the darkest day.

Ashley’s life was tragically cut short, leaving behind a heartbreak that words cannot fully express. Yet her story will never be defined by the way her life ended, but by the love she gave, the laughter she shared, and the countless lives she touched. Her light lives on in her four beloved children, in the memories held close by her family and friends, and in every life made brighter simply because she was part of it.
