Avery Thomas Creacy

Avery Thomas Creacy, 69, of Belton, Texas, passed away on January 17, 2026. He was born on August 15, 1956, to Arvil and Westa Creacy in Pierre, South Dakota. 

Avery proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps, a commitment that reflected his strong sense of duty and love of country. He later earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Midwestern State University, an accomplishment he valued greatly. 

He was a man who found joy in life’s simple and meaningful pleasures. Avery loved hunting and fishing, cheering on his favorite baseball and football teams, and traveling whenever he had the chance. Time spent with family and exploring new places brought him genuine happiness. 

Avery is survived by his loving wife, Janis Wilson Ruff, of Belton, Texas; his son, Jason Creacy, of Gatesville, Texas; his daughter, Jennifer Creacy, of Temple, Texas; and his cherished grandson, Bruce. He is also survived by his stepdaughter, Joanna Ruff, of Fredrick, Maryland, and her partner, Morgan Moore; and his stepson, Wesley Ruff, of Round Rock, Texas, his wife Amber, and their children Katelyn, Kinley, and Lucas. He is further survived by his sisters, Dee McCorkle and her husband Russell, and Wanette Creacy, both of Haslet, Texas, and his sister-in-law, Connie Creacy of Wichita Falls. 

Avery was preceded in death by his parents, Arvil and Westa Creacy, and his brother, George Creacy. 

A Celebration of Life honoring Avery will be held March 20, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. at Crotty Funeral Home in Belton, Texas. Family and friends are invited to gather to share memories and celebrate a life well lived.
