Benny Larry
Jasper
February 15, 1957 — November 2, 2026
Gatesville, Texas
Benny Larry Jasper, of Gatesville, Texas, passed away on November 2, 2026, in Temple, Texas. He was born on February 15, 1957, in Gatesville, and his life was marked by hard work, humor, devotion to family, and a deep love for the outdoors.
A graduate of Gatesville High School, Benny went on to serve his country in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in August of 1975. He carried that same steady commitment into his working life, becoming a self-employed mechanic for more than 40 years. Through decades of work, he built a life defined by diligence and self-reliance, earning the respect of those who knew him as a hardworking man who took pride in what he did.
Beyond his work, Benny embraced life with an open heart and an easy smile. He was kind and caring, and he loved spending time with his family. He was also known as a jokester, someone who never met a stranger, a very outgoing man who talked to everybody and left people smiling. Funny by nature and warm in spirit, he brought lightness to everyday moments and made others feel welcome in his presence.
He found joy in the simple and lasting pleasures of life: fishing, hunting, camping, hiking, traveling, outdoor cooking, and beach trips. These were more than pastimes to him; they were part of the way he connected with the people he loved and the world around him. Whether sharing a meal outdoors, heading off on a trip, or enjoying time under an open sky, Benny treasured those moments and the memories they created.
Among the accomplishments he held most dear was his marriage on March 18, 1977, in Gatesville, Texas, to his wife Dianne. Their 49 years of marriage stood as a lasting testament to love, commitment, and a life built together across the years.
Benny is survived by his wife, Dianne Jasper of Gatesville, Texas; his son Benny Jasper Jr. of Glen Rose, Texas; his son John Jasper of Longview, Texas; and sister Crystal Jasper of Whitney, Texas. In the love of his family, and in the many memories they shared with him, his presence will continue to be felt warmly and deeply.
He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Jasper; his mother, Ruth White; his sisters, Donna Lemon and Bell Bennett; and his brothers, Glenn White and James Henager.
Benny Larry Jasper will be remembered for his laughter, his outgoing nature, his hardworking spirit, and the love he gave so freely to those around him. His life was one of conversation, companionship, and care, and his memory will remain a cherished part of all who knew and loved him.
