Betty JoAnn Biels Hartgrove (nee Glover) entered her Heavenly home on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, due to complications from Parkinson's Disease.  JoAnn was surrounded by the love of her family as she passed. 

JoAnn was born on February 22, 1937, in Vernon, Texas to G.C. "Squig" and Mary Lois Glover (nee Dickens).  She grew up in Jean, Texas and attended Graham High School, graduating in 1955.

JoAnn was extremely talented in many areas including sewing, quilting, crocheting, cross-stitching, and crafting.  She greatly enjoyed singing, playing the piano, and the organ. 

JoAnn lived in Killeen, Texas from 1963 to 2023 before moving to Copperas Cove, Texas in May 2023 to live at the Stoney Brook Retirement Community.  She was a member of Memorial Baptist Church in Killeen, Texas from 1963 to 1988. She then joined First Baptist Church of Trimmier in Killeen, Texas from 1988 until her passing.  At FBCT she served as Sunday School secretary and church clerk from 1992 to 2013.  She was a soprano in the church choir, a member of the hand bell choir, she also played the piano and organ during services. 

JoAnn worked for Civil Service for Fort Hood Military Base (Fort Cavazos) as a Budget Analyst from 1971 until her retirement in 1997 after 26 years of service. 

JoAnn was an avid bowler beginning in 1961.  She bowled on leagues at the Killeen Bowlerama, Hallmark Lanes (Killeen), and Phantom Warrior Lanes (Fort Hood/Fort Cavazos)

In 1997 JoAnn began dancing at the Dance with Tina studio in Killeen.  With much encouragement from her dance instructor, Tina Wykes Barnes, she joined the Granny Dancers in 1998. She learned to dance jazz, tap, and clog and participated in competitions with the Granny Dancers throughout Texas.  The Granny Dancers also performed in shows in Killeen, Harker Heights, and Copperas Cove.

JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Jack Glover; her husbands, Leroy Biels (1997) and Weldon Hartgrove (2023).

JoAnn is survived by her 6 children: Jacqui Biels of Pasadena, Texas; Craig Eady (LouNell) of South Carolina; David Biels (Vicki) of Harker Heights, Texas; Kirk Eady of Hurst, Texas; Jana Eady Martin (Michael) of Euless, Texas; and Melissa Carr-DeLain of Killeen, Texas. She is also survived by her sister, Susie Glover Melbern (Bill) of Gatesville, Texas; her sister-in-law, Kay Glover of Hideaway, Texas; her brother-in-law, Earl Biels of Killeen, Texas; her sister-in-law, Doris Kaase (Herman) of Thrall, Texas; 17 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, 2 nieces, 6 nephews, and several cousins.   

JoAnn's family would like to thank Shannon Hernandez (her amazing caregiver) and Visiting Angels of Temple, Texas; Baylor Scott & White Hospice of Temple, Texas; the Memory Unit staff and administrators of Stoney Brook Retirement Community in Copperas Cove, Texas; and the staff of Texas Movement Specialists in Georgetown, Texas.   

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at 2:00 pm at the First Baptist Church of Trimmier located at 6405 Chaparral Road in Killeen. 

In lieu of flowers please donate to the Michael J. Fox Foundation (Parkinson's Disease Research), the First Baptist Church of Trimmier, or a charity of your choice.
