Billy Smith Alexander

Billy Alexander was born in Bowie County Texas on November 6, 1937 to William and Clorine Sanders Alexander. He died on April 20th, 2024 in Killeen Texas.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00P.M. Monday April 29, 2024 at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery with Pastor H.K. Ballard officiating. 
Surviving family members include his wife, Wynona Alexander, brother Edwin Alexander; sister Rita Jones; sisters-in-law Paula Alexander and Judy Alexander; and nieces and nephews Debbie Perret, Brenda Van Buren, Bobby Tucker, Terry Jones, Gregory Alexander, Christopher Alexander and Justin Alexander.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers Wayne Alexander and Doyle Tucker.
After finishing high school in DeKalb, Texas, he joined the Navy and served as a Communications Specialist for three years. After his military discharge, he attended college at Paris Junior College, The University of Texas in Austin, and East Texas State College. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in English and Journalism and a Master’s Degree in English Literature from ETSC.
Bill taught in public schools in Bardwell, Corsicana, and Killeen in Texas. He also worked as an Education Specialist at Ft Hood. His last job was that of an English-as-a-second language Consultant at Central Texas College in Killeen.
He lived a well-balanced life of intellectual pursuits; extensive travel throughout the United States; and involvement in various sports, including a high school stint as a winning Golden Gloves Boxer.
Family and friends knew Bill as a reserved, elegant man who was highly intelligent, supportive, kind and empathetic. He loved his family intensely and will likewise be intensely missed.
In lieu of flowers, one can send a donation to a charity of choice.
