Bill Hermon, 88, passed away on September 6, 2026, leaving behind a remarkable legacy of faith, family, education, and a lifelong love of learning.

Bill was born in Lytton Springs, Texas, to the late Claude Hermon and Dorothy (Webb) Hermon on November 27, 1937. Education became one of the defining callings of his life, and over the course of an extraordinary 42-year teaching career, he influenced countless students through his knowledge, encouragement, and dedication.

He began his career teaching history at Dickinson High School, where he taught for one year, followed by five years at Seguin High School. Bill then continued his career at Temple Junior College, where he devoted 36 years to teaching business management, real estate, and fashion merchandising.

While Bill was proud of his many years as an educator, the title he cherished most was simply “Pa.” Being a grandfather and great-grandfather brought him immeasurable joy. He treasured time spent with his family and took great pride in watching the generations that followed him grow, learn, and create lives of their own.

A lifelong learner himself, Bill possessed an endless curiosity and a genuine love of knowledge. He was an avid reader who enjoyed learning about a wide variety of subjects, but none was more meaningful to him than the Bible. His love of Scripture and his faith remained an important part of his life and reflected his desire to continue learning and growing throughout his years.

Bill was also blessed to share 68 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Lois “Nell” Hermon. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love, devotion, family, and countless memories spanning nearly seven decades.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Dorothy Hermon; his brother, Gene Hermon; and his sister, Linda Hutcheson.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 68 years, Lois “Nell” Hermon; his daughter, Glenda Simmons and her husband, Steve; his grandson, Taylor Hudler and his girlfriend, Liz; his granddaughter, Alyssa Oenning and her husband, Ryan; his great-grandsons, Landon and Colson; his brother, James Hermon and his wife, Maria; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, former students, and friends.

After a lifetime spent teaching others, seeking knowledge, loving his family, and growing in his faith, Bill leaves behind a legacy that cannot be measured simply in years. It lives on in the lessons he shared, the students he influenced, the family he treasured, and the generations who will continue to carry his love and wisdom with them.

His classroom may now be quiet, but the lessons of his life will continue for generations.
