Brian Craig Cox of Killeen, Texas passed away peacefully at home on September 2, 2026, surrounded by his family. He was born in Temple, Texas on October 24, 1948. Brian's life was deeply rooted in the community he called home and was defined by his unwavering devotion to faith, family, and the values he held most dear.

Brian attended Connally High School before continuing his education at Texas A&M University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree. A proud Aggie throughout his life, Brian carried his love for Texas A&M with him always. His degree in wildlife science reflected his lifelong fascination with animals and nature, a passion he enjoyed sharing with his family.

Above all else, Brian was a man of deep faith and devotion to his family. He desired to build a legacy that would honor God and continue through the generations that followed. His faith was not simply something he spoke about, it was something he lived each day through his actions, his character, and the way he cared for others.

Brian was truly a jack of all trades. He loved woodworking, tinkering, and figuring out how things worked. No task seemed too small and no challenge too great for him to take on. He approached life with a strong work ethic, a sharp mind, and a willingness to lend a helping hand whenever it was needed. Brian possessed a genuine servant's heart and found great purpose in helping others. Those fortunate enough to know him will remember him as a man of honor and integrity. He was intelligent, quick-witted, and blessed with a wonderful sense of humor that brought laughter and warmth to those around him.

To his family, Brian was lovingly known as “Poppa,” a name that perfectly reflects the special place he held in their hearts. His love was expressed not only through words but also through the example he set. Through his steadfast faith, kindness, wisdom, and devotion to those he loved, Brian taught his family lessons that will remain with them for generations.

Brian is survived by his beloved wife, Patty Sue Cox; his daughter, Jennifer Bolden, and her husband, Lynnel, of Harker Heights, Texas; his daughter, Mandi Baker, and her husband, Dustin, of Belton, Texas; his son, Mike Ray, and his wife, Kelley, of Killeen, Texas; his daughter, Shelly Brockelman, and her husband, Jeff, of Spartanburg, South Carolina. He was Poppa to 12 grandchildren and 3 great- grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ardeen Cox, and his mother, Mary Frances Cox.

A homegoing service celebrating Brian's life will be held on September 11, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Crotty Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 5431 U.S. Hwy 190, Belton, Texas 76513.

In honor of Brian, the family invites those attending the service to wear blue, his favorite color.

In lieu of flowers, the family would be deeply grateful for donations to help with Brian's memorial service expenses. For those who wish to honor his memory with flowers, Brian especially loved white daisies and Texas wildflowers, and the family would be touched by such a tribute.
