It is with deep sadness and heartfelt reflection that we announce the passing of Charles Edward Jones, a beloved father, devoted husband, cherished brother, and treasured friend, who left us on March 28, 2026, in Temple, Texas. Born on July 4, 1927, in Crawford, Texas, Charles's journey through life was marked by steadfast dedication, kindness, and an enduring love for his family.
Charles answered the call of duty during World War II, serving honorably as a firefighter in the U.S. Navy. His commitment to serving his country was a testament to his character—selfless, courageous, and unwavering. After returning home from the war, he embarked on a career in heavy equipment sales, a profession through which he worked tirelessly until his retirement. Yet, retirement did not slow Charles down; instead, it opened a new chapter where he embraced each day with joy, greeting customers and spending treasured moments at his daughter Lisa’s consignment shop, Twice Upon A Clothes Line, in Temple.
Those who knew Charles recall his bright blue eyes, a window to the kind soul within. His daughter, Lisa Jones, who remains by his side, will sorely miss the warmth of his presence as the store’s friendly door greeter and cherish the countless memories they created together. Charles found his greatest pride and accomplishment in his family; his love extended deeply to those who gathered around him. He was, above all, a wonderful husband and father—a man whose heart was as vast as the Texas skies under which he was born.
On May 4, 1957, Charles joined hands with Jacqualine Martha Marie Jones, embarking on a lifelong journey of love and partnership. Their beautiful life together was a narrative of shared dreams and resilient bonds until her passing in 1996. The void left by Jacqueline’s departure was profound, but Charles’s spirit remained anchored by the memories they made and the family they nurtured.
Charles’s passions were as varied as they were meaningful. He delighted in watching football, collected watches and die-cast cars with an avid eye and loving hands, and treasured time spent with family and friends. But above all, his greatest joy was found in his daughter, Lisa—a relationship that filled his life with purpose and happiness.
He is survived by a circle of loved ones who will forever carry his spirit in their hearts: his daughter Lisa Jones and Robert Perry of Temple; his brother Johnny Jones of Fort Worth; and his faithful companion, Lola, his beloved dog. Many other family members and friends also mourn his loss and celebrate his remarkable life.
In honor of Charles’s life and the legacy he leaves behind, a celebration will be held this July, near his birthday, at the VFW. Details, including time and location, will be shared once finalized.
Charles’s journey was shaped by the legacy left by those who went before him—his wife Jacqueline, parents John “Bun” and Bertle Jones, brother Jimmy Jones, sister Nancy Jones, and son Ronny Dunagan—all of whom now watch over him from beyond.
Today, as we remember Charles Edward Jones, we honor a life marked by kindness, hard work, and boundless love. His memory will live on in the hearts he touched and the family he loved so dearly. Though he has passed from our sight, the imprint of his spirit endures, a guiding light for those who had the privilege to know him. Rest in peace, Charles, knowing you were deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.
