Charles LeRoy Records Sr.,90, of Harker Heights a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 25, 2025, in Temple, Texas. Born on April 12, 1935, in Kylertown, Pennsylvania, Charles lived a life rich in love and warmth, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to inspire those who knew him.
As a devoted family man, Charles found great joy in his relationships with his loved ones. He is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara Ann Records, of Harker Heights, Texas; his son, Charles Lee Records Jr., of Clearfield, Pennsylvania; and his daughter, Victoria Ann Yeager, of Lillington, North Carolina. He was the proud grandfather of seven grandchildren and a doting great-grandfather to sixteen great-grandchildren, along with one great-great grandchild. Charles was known for his ability to light up a room, particularly when surrounded by children. With a gentle spirit, any child could effortlessly bring a smile to his face, embodying the purest form of joy and happiness.
A veteran of the United States Air Force, Charles served his country with quiet strength, transitioning from humble beginnings to retirement with honor and distinction. After retirement he worked as a truckdriver for Sky Haven Coal Company until his retirement in 1999.
In addition to his professional life, Charles was an avid racecar driver, he became a legend #71, Charging' Charlie, the racing Santa. This remarkable persona emerged during his time in the Pennsylvania dirt racing scene, where he captured the hearts and imaginations of many, leaving a trail of checkered flags, laughter, and unforgettable stories that still echo in the stands.
He was a member of Northside Baptist Church of Nolanville, where he nurtured his faith and cultivated friendships that reflected his kind-hearted soul. Many will remember him not only for his racing but also for his genuine warmth, rich laughter, and beautiful moments he created with family and friends.
Charles now joins his infant daughter, Darlene Dawn Records, who passed away on June 22, 1957. Their reunion is one that brings solace to those grieving his loss.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on May 9, 2025, at Northside Baptist Church in Nolanville, Texas. Friends and family are invited to gather at 2:00 PM to honor and celebrate the life of this extraordinary man.
