Charlotte Freeman Fuson, age 80, of Belton, a loving wife, mother, sister, and Meme, passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 7, 2023, at her home. Born on July 2, 1943, Charlotte lived a full and vibrant life marked by her loving nature, intelligence, and adventurous spirit.
Charlotte was a force to be reckoned with, a woman of profound intellect, and a lifelong learner. She held a Bachelor of Science degree from Baylor University and a Masters of Library Science from Texas Women's University. Her intelligence was remarkable, with an IQ of 162, something her husband was immensely proud of. She was not just an academic powerhouse but a beacon of wisdom for her family and the many students she taught. She began her career as a gifted and talented teacher at Meredith-Dunbar Elementary School, then as a science teacher at Bonham Middle School in Temple, and finally, retired as a Librarian at Lamar Middle School. Her life was a testament to the power of education and the enduring impact a dedicated teacher can have on countless lives.

Her love for travel was infectious, and she explored the length and breadth of the United States with her beloved grandchildren. She also ventured to France with her mother and sister, and spent time in China as a missionary, her adventurous spirit touching lives in every corner of the globe. A lover of Dr. Pepper and all desserts, Charlotte enjoyed gardening, antiquing and was fascinated by history and the stories of Abe Lincoln. A proud breast cancer survivor, her resilience in the face of adversity was truly inspiring. She was deeply committed to her family, participating enthusiastically in their activities and leading her children's Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops for many years. She was an amazing wife, dedicated mother, a loving sister, and a doting grandmother.
Charlotte leaves behind a beautiful family legacy, including her husband of over sixty years that she married on March 30, 1963, Doyle Fuson; her daughter, Leontine Yvette Fuson; her son, Doyle Fuson Jr. and his wife, Gnora; and her sister, Yvette Hurley and her husband, William, her eleven grandchildren, Amanda Fuson, Jessica Fuson, Doyle Fuson III, and his wife, Jessica, Samantha Schauer and her husband, Christopher, Levi Fuson and his wife, Sarah, Kristopher Corwin and his wife, Sarah, Joshua Fuson, Parker Wells, Ricky Britt and his wife, Fallon, Christina Britt, thirty great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
