D. L. Rhoades, a beloved member of his community and family, passed away on April 20, 2026, in Temple, Texas. Born on August 1, 1934, in Killeen, Texas, Mr. Rhoades led a life marked by dedication, service, and a deep love for his family.

He graduated from Belton High School, where he laid the foundation for a life of hard work and commitment. Shortly thereafter, he served proudly in the National Guard for two years, exemplifying his sense of duty and patriotism.

D. L. Rhoades dedicated much of his career to Brazos Electric, where he was known for his steadfast work ethic and professionalism. Outside of his professional life, he was passionate about rodeo and anything western, reflecting a spirit deeply connected to the culture and traditions of his Texas roots. His favorite color was red, a vibrant choice that seemed to echo his lively spirit and boundless enthusiasm for life. Above all, he cherished his family, finding joy and purpose in their presence.

Mr. Rhoades is survived by his three sons, Donnie (Karen), Jerry, and Randall (Sherry), who carry forward his legacy of strength and integrity. He was also a proud grandfather to two grandchildren and a great-grandfather to three great-grandchildren, all of whom meant the world to him and who were the recipients of his unwavering love.

He was preceded in death by his devoted spouse, Nona Rhoades, his parents, Louis and Alta Rhoades, as well as his brothers Raymond Rhoades and Troy Rhoades, and his sisters Ruby King and Geneva Wadell.

Family, friends, and community members are invited to honor the life and memory of D. L. Rhoades with a visitation at Crotty Funeral Home & Cremation Services, located at 5431 U.S. Hwy 190, Belton, TX 76513, on April 28, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Following the visitation, a funeral service will be held at the same location from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. The day’s remembrance will conclude with a graveside service at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Killeen, TX, at 1:30 PM.

D. L. Rhoades’ life was a testament to dedication, family, and the enduring values he held dear. He will be remembered with great respect, admiration, and love by all who knew him.
