David Thad Francis Jr.

David Thad Francis Jr., known affectionately as Dave by his friends and family, passed away at the age of 61 on December 28, 2025, in Temple, Texas. Born on November 4, 1964, in Memphis, Tennessee, to Christine Francis and the late David Thad Francis Sr., he brought joy and laughter to all who knew him. Dave's friendly demeanor, sharp wit, and adventurous spirit will be deeply missed by his loved ones and the community he so dearly impacted.

Dave bravely served his country as a member of the United States Army, a period of his life that was marked by dedication and an unwavering commitment to his fellow soldiers and nation. His time in the military instilled in him a sense of discipline and camaraderie that he carried with him long after his service ended. After his honorable discharge, Dave's work ethic and leadership skills made him a respected figure in his professional endeavors.

A man of many interests, Dave's love for the outdoors was undeniable. He found peace and excitement behind the wheel of his beloved Jeep. His enthusiasm for boats and fishing was contagious, and many will fondly remember the days spent on the water with him, whether they were tranquil afternoons waiting for a catch or spirited excursions exploring the beauty of nature.

He is survived by his loving mother, Christine Francis; his children, Gail Francis, David Francis, and Nicklas Francis, his brother, James Strauser; and his sister, Ann Holiday. Each family member carries a piece of Dave's spirit, and they will continue to honor his legacy through their own lives.

Dave's journey was one of courage and resilience, especially in his battle with stage 4 lung cancer. He faced his diagnosis with the same strength and grace that characterized his approach to all of life's challenges.
