Dorothy Hatter Beaty, 87, peacefully woke up in her eternal home on Saturday, February 14, 2026, in Lake Worth. While our hearts grieve her absence, we rejoice knowing she is reunited with those she loved and has long missed.
Born on September 25, 1938, in Moody to Jess “Chick” and Thelma Hatter, Dorothy was rooted deeply in faith, family, and community from the very beginning. A devoted Baptist and lifetime member of First Baptist Church Moody, her faith guided her steps and shaped the gentle, steadfast spirit so many came to cherish.
Dorothy graduated from Moody High School in 1957 and later attended Durham Business School. She began working for Metropolitan Life Insurance, where she met the love of her life, Robert L. Beaty. Their love story began there and blossomed into a marriage on June 30, 1961 — a union built on devotion, laughter, and deep affection.
Together they made their home in Tullahoma, where they welcomed their beloved son, Dale Robert Beaty, in January 1966. Dorothy’s greatest joy was being a mother. Her love was steady and selfless, and she poured her heart into her family every single day. Though she lost her precious Bob in March 1973, her strength and grace carried her forward as she continued to build a life centered on love and resilience.
She was preceded in death by her parents of Moody, Texas; her brother, Charles “Bud” Hatter of Copperas Cove; and her in-laws, Elmus and Novella Beaty of Clarkrange. We take comfort in imagining the joyful reunion that has now taken place.
Dorothy leaves behind a legacy of kindness and unwavering love. She is survived by her devoted son, Dale R. Beaty of Lake Worth, Texas; three cherished grandchildren; two precious great-grandchildren who brought endless light to her life; her sister, Mary Thompson of Temple; her sister-in-law, Patsy Hatter of Copperas Cove, Texas; and many extended family members and dear friends whose lives were touched by her warmth.
Dorothy will be remembered for her gentle heart, her quiet strength, and the way she made those around her feel deeply loved. Though she will be greatly missed, her legacy lives on in the family she nurtured and the faith she faithfully carried throughout her life.
A graveside service will be held at Moody City Cemetery at 1:00 PM on February 19, 2026 with Eddie Humpheys officiating.
Services are entrusted to Crotty Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
