Dorothy Lorraine Drake

August 16, 1928 — June 28, 2025

Dorothy Lorraine Drake passed away surrounded by family on June 28,2025. She was born in Milam County to James Jackson Russell and Lilly Thomas McGoldrick Russell.

Lorraine graduated from Cameron Yoe High School in Cameron, Texas in 1946. She later attended Temple Vocational Nursing School graduating in 1953.  She married R.V. (Cecil) Drake in October 1947.  Her Nursing Career spanned many years until her retirement from the Olin E. Teague Veterans Hospital in Temple, Texas. 

Lorraine Loved listening to music- especially polka and worship music, and studying the bible. She deepened her faith and understanding by earning a Bachelor's Degree in 1998 and a Master's Degree in Theology in 1999 from the American School of Theology.  

She was preceded in death by her husband, her brother Elton Russell, and her grandson John Drake. 

She is survived by two daughters, Elaine Wheat (James) and Patty Zehr (Larry); two sons, Jimmy Drake ( Rene') and Glenn Drake (Debbie); Seven grandchildren; Eight Great-Grandchildren, and two Great Great grandchildren.


Visitation will be held at 3C Fellowship in Salado Texas on July 3rd, 2025 at 10:00am with a Celebration of Life to follow at 11:00am. Officiating This service will be Pastor Larry Dyck , and Pastor Mike Miller. 

Private graveside service will be at Hillcrest Memorial Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to 3C Cowboy Fellowship Building Fund, 16258 Gooseneck Road, Salado, Texas 76571.
