Doyle ""Butch"" E. Athey

Doyle ""Butch"" E. Athey, 72, of Temple passed away on Friday, July 19, 2019 at a local hospital. Doyle was born on October 4, 1945 to J.D. and Alyne Athey in McKinney. He worked in concessions and catering for most of his life. Doyle retired as a Bell County Sheriff after serving over 18 years. He was the definition of a family man and a devoted Christian. Doyle enjoyed the Texas Rangers, Dallas Cowboys, Texas Longhorns, and attending his LVAD support group. He will be dearly missed. Doyle is preceded in death by his parents, J.D. and Alyne Athey and his two siblings David and Lucille Athey. He is survived by his sons, Jimmy Doyle Athey of Blountville, TN, and Kristopher Dale Athey of Belton; his daughters, Dedra Athey Stevens of Belton, and Vicki Lynn Athey of Temple; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. A private family memorial will be held at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to Crotty Funeral Home & Cremation Services if Belton.
