Edward Owen Hudson Jr., born on July 27, 1934, in Merryville, Louisiana, passed away on December 19, 2025, in Killeen, Texas, after a long illness. He was a man of unwavering strength and profound love, leaving behind a legacy that will forever be cherished by those who knew him.
Edward was a proud Army Veteran who dedicated over 23 years of his life to service. His commitment during the Korean War earned him numerous accolades, including the National Defense Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Korean Service Medal with Bronze Star, and the United Nations Service Medal, among many others. A lifetime member of the VFW in Killeen, he embodied the values of honor and dedication, serving his country with pride and integrity.
Described by those closest to him as a loving husband and father, Edward's warmth and kindness touched the lives of everyone he met. Even in the most challenging times of his illness, he displayed a remarkable spirit, earning the admiration and affection of his nurses and caregivers. Edward’s ability to keep hope alive was a testament to his character, and he will forever be remembered for the love he shared with his family and friends.
He took great joy in the simple pleasures of life, rooting for his beloved Dallas Cowboys during football games or enjoying a spirited game of cards with family. These moments brought him immense joy and happiness, and they are some of the memories that will be cherished by his loved ones.
Edward is survived by his sons, Edward James Hudson, and Jerome Hudson who carry forth their father’s legacy, along with many cherished grandchildren and numerous family members and friends. He was one of fourteen children, and his familial bonds were a source of immense pride and joy throughout his life. Edward's enduring love for his family was reflected in everything he did, and they will miss the warmth he brought into their lives, especially those quiet moments spent together, cheering on their team.
Edward is reunited in peace with his beloved wife, Dorothy Lewis, whose memory he cherished deeply. While his passing leaves a profound void, Edward’s spirit remains alive in the hearts of those who loved him.
Military Honors for Edward will be held on January 5, 2026, at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, Texas, beginning at 9:00 AM. Family and friends will gather to celebrate a life well-lived, sharing stories and laughter while remembering the loving man who touched their lives in countless ways.
