With hearts full of love and memories, we honor the life of Emma Castillo Pruitt, a beacon of joy and faith who was called home to the Lord on March 7, 2026. Born on March 3, 1952, in Lubbock, Texas, Emma's life was a testament to the power of love, laughter, and unwavering faith.
Emma was a cherished daughter of Augustine and Juanita Castillo, who, along with her brothers Roy, Jesse, Johnny, Henry, Paul, and Augie Castillo, as well as her beloved sisters Mamie Martinez and Rosie Dehollez, welcomed her with open arms into eternal peace. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert "Puddy" Pruitt, with whom she shared a lifetime of love and devotion. Left to cherish her memory are her devoted children, Gwendolyn Trevino and Mark Pruitt. Her legacy continues through the lives of her adoring grandchildren, Blaine Schultz, Roman Pruitt, Salvador "Sal" Pruitt, John "Jon-Jon" Trevino, Mason Pruitt, and Evan Trevino, and her great-grandchild, Archer Schultz, who brought immeasurable joy to her life. Emma is also lovingly remembered by her siblings, Mary Helen Jack, Vidalia "Billie" Lopez, Corina March, Gilbert "Geebo" Castillo, Joe Castillo, Bobby "Max" Castillo, and Ricky Castillo, who will hold her spirit close in their hearts forever.
Emma's life journey was marked by her dedication to her Christian faith, which she embraced with unwavering conviction. She found strength and solace in the teachings of Christ and lived her life as a shining example of His love and grace. Emma's faith-filled spirit resonated in every aspect of her life, from her funny anecdotes that could light up a room to her spirited determination in everything she pursued. A lifelong learner, Emma achieved her GED with pride and was a testament to the belief that it is never too late to pursue one's dreams.
Her passion for life was evident in her love for dancing, which energized both her soul and those around her. Emma embraced the joy of movement, whether in the rhythm of water aerobics or on the dance floor, where she could often be found twirling with grace. Emma's zest for life also found expression in her love for working out, keeping her spirit as strong as her body. A true connoisseur of life's pleasures, she delighted in the simple joy of shopping, finding treasures and experiences in every outing. Her adventurous spirit led her to travel, exploring new places and cultures, and creating a tapestry of cherished memories.
Today, as we bid farewell to Emma Castillo Pruitt, we do so with profound gratitude for her presence in our lives. Her laughter, her unwavering spirit, and her enduring faith have left an indelible mark on all who were blessed to know her. Emma's memory will live on as a beacon of hope and love, inspiring us to embrace each day with the same passion and joy she exemplified so beautifully. We take comfort in knowing that Emma is now dancing in the eternal light of God's love, free from the bounds of this earthly life, and surrounded by the heavenly chorus. She will forever remain in our hearts until we meet again in the presence of our Creator, where joy knows no end.
