George D. Bridges, 81, of Temple passed away on July 4, 2026 at a local hospital. He was born on August 2, 1944 to Catus and Della Bridges. George never met a stranger and rarely missed a chance to make someone smile. His life was a testament to faith, laughter, generosity, and a love for Jesus. He will be remembered with great affection by all who knew him. Whenever a room is filled with laughter or someone boldly/ loudly praises the Lord, many will be reminded of George.

A proud veteran of the National Guard, George loved Jesus wholeheartedly and never hesitated to share his faith with others. He treasured God's Word, openly praised the Lord wherever he went. His generous spirit was evident in his support of the Jewish people and his contributions to the local food pantry.

George shared 50 years of marriage with his first wife, Judy Turnbo Bridges, until her passing in 2014. Later, he found companionship and love again with his second wife, Jody Panowicz Bridges, who preceded him in death in 2025. Both women held a special place in his heart and were important parts of his life's journey.

George found joy in life's simple blessings. He loved ice cream, singing, telling jokes, and taking drives to explore places throughout Texas. His daily trips to Walmart became much more than errands—they were opportunities to visit with employees, talk with strangers, and brighten someone's day. Before losing his eyesight, he also enjoyed playing dominoes and spending time with others.

George was preceded in death by his parents, Catus Bridges and Della Lavinia Bridges; his first wife, Judy Turnbo Bridges; his second wife, Jody Panowicz Bridges; and his sister, Betty Pratt.

He is survived by his daughters, Vicky Bowden of Gatesville, Texas, and Stacey Fisher of Belton, Texas; his brother, Larry Bridges of Temple, Texas; and his five grandchildren, April Langlitz, David Estes, Derek Bridges, Kayla Fletcher, and Kortni Medina. He also leaves behind numerous extended family members, dear friends, and all whose lives were touched by his faith, humor, and kindness.

A Private Family Service will be held at a later date.
