George LaHue was born on September 10, 1947, in Vernon, Tx to Gerald D. LaHue and Louise Smith. He departed this life on March 21, 2026. He attended school in Vernon High School and took part in sports such as baseball.

George joined the U.S. Army in February 1965. He served in the Infantry in Vietnam during the Vietnam Counter Offensive Phase II in 1966 to 1967, Vietnam Counter Offensive Phase III in 1967 to 1968, TET Counter Offensive in 1968, and Vietnam Counter Offensive Phase VII in 1970 to 1971. He also served in Okinawa in 1965 to 1966 and Thailand 1968 to 1970. After he was wounded twice in Vietnam, he remained enlisted as a Subsistence Supply Specialist at Ft Hood, Tx until he reclassed to Military Policeman and served in Germany. Discharging with an honorable discharge from the Army in 1978. He was awarded the Bronze Star w/ V device, Purple Heart, Vietnam Campaign w/device 60, National Defense Service Medal, Combat Infantry badge, Parachutist badge (Jump Wings), Good Conduct Medal 3 Awards, Army Commendation Medal, 4 Overseas Service Bars, and was an Expert in the M-16. He completed Special Forces training, LRRPs training, Airborne training, and Vietnamese language training.

George met the love of his life, Pranee Jaruphong, in Okinawa in 1966. They later married in 1967, in Thailand, where they lived with their 2 children until moving to the United States in 1970. After moving his family to California, George went back to Vietnam for another year after volunteering in place of his younger brother, and then was stationed at Fort Hood, Tx. During that time, they had their third child. In 1977 he was stationed in Germany, and he discharged a year later when they had their fourth child. After the military he worked with the Railroad, later he was a truck driver then their fifth child was born. George was then medically retired. He was a short-wave radio and CB enthusiast, enjoyed fishing and boating, played golf, and enjoyed bingo. They lived in Killeen, Tx for 20 years before moving to Schenectady, Ny for a short time to live with their daughter. However, being a Texas native George decided to move back home to Vernon, Tx where he planned to live out his days. 

He and Pranee volunteered at the VFW while they cared for their daughter’s two children while she was away in the military. They changed plans and moved to Temple, Tx and have remained in the area for the last sixteen years. They have been married for 59 years.

George was preceded in death by his grandparents George Alonzo and Willie Maude LaHue; and Charlie and Josephine Smith; father, Gerald Donnell LaHue and mother, Louise Smith; and younger sister, Mary Hemry.

George leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Pranee LaHue; daughter, Jamie and Mike Bourdeaux; son, Sonny and Luanne LaHue; daughter, Tina and John Mainville; daughter, Melanie and Jorge Vancegonzalez; daughter, Daranee LaHue; 17 grandchildren; and 5 great- grandchildren; brothers, Kelley and Karen Rodgers; and Wayne and Patti LaHue; and many nieces and nephews.
