Gilbert Jimenez Jr., known lovingly as “Goofy“, was born on August 26, 1949, in Mission, Texas, and passed away on April 5, 2026, in Cibolo, Texas, after a short battle with cancer. He lived a life marked by strength, devotion, service, and a deep commitment to the people he loved. His journey on this earth was one of purpose, resilience, and faith, and he leaves behind a legacy that will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know him.

Gilbert was a proud Christian whose faith helped guide him through the many seasons of life. He understood that every day was a gift and that every challenge could be met with courage and grace. He carried himself with quiet dignity and a steady spirit, and he encouraged others simply by the way he lived. He believed in hard work, in family, in loyalty, and in showing up for the people who mattered most. His life was a powerful reminder that a meaningful life is built not only through accomplishments, but through love, character, and perseverance.

He was educated in Victoria, Texas, where he attended Stroman High School, then continued his studies at Victoria College before earning a bachelor’s degree from Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, Texas. Gilbert valued education as a foundation for growth and opportunity, and he carried that commitment into every area of his life.

Gilbert served his country honorably as a member of the United States Air Force, a chapter of his life that demonstrated his patriotism, discipline, and sense of duty. He later worked as a Human Resources Administrator for various large organizations until his retirement. In every role he held, he brought professionalism, integrity, and a calm, dependable presence. He understood people, respected their stories, and approached his work with both wisdom and compassion. His career was not just a job, but a reflection of the values he carried with him every day.

His family was the center of his world, and he found great joy in being surrounded by those he loved. He was a source of strength, encouragement, and steady support, and his presence brought comfort and confidence to those closest to him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn Jimenez, and his stepsons, Israel and Rick Vasquez. He is also survived by his siblings, Daniel and Jessie Jimenez, Richard (Suzanne) Jimenez of Victoria, Texas, Jimmy (Lynette) Jimenez of Katy, Texas, Delia Jimenez of League City, Texas, and Irma (Art) Trevino of Richmond, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents Gilbert and Josefa and his son, Gilbert Jimenez III. Though their absence was deeply felt, Gilbert carried their memory with him, and their influence remained part of the life he lived and the values he upheld.

Gilbert’s interests reflected the joy he found in life’s simple and meaningful moments. He loved spending time with his beloved family, listening to music, dancing, and traveling. He was also an outdoorsman and the family Videographer. He was always behind the camera. Gilbert embraced life with appreciation and heart. He knew how to enjoy the moment, and he reminded others to do the same.

Those who knew Gilbert will remember a man who lived with purpose and who met life with determination and grace. He was someone who understood that legacy is not measured only by years, but by the love we give, the example we set, and the lives we touch along the way. His life stands as a testament to faith, family, service, and enduring love. Though he has completed his earthly journey, the impact of his life will continue to shine through the memories, lessons, and love he leaves behind.

Scripture: John 11:25 Jesus said to her: I am the Resurrection and the Life, He that Believes in me though he were dead, Yet shall he live.
