Homer Kitchen,79, of Killeen passed away Sunday, December 8, 2013 at a Temple hospital. A Visitation will be held Friday, December 13, 2013 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Crotty Funeral Home in Belton. A Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 P.M. Saturday, December 14, 2013 at Crotty Funeral Home with Dr. William Buntyn officiating. Homer Kitchen was born May 4, 1934 in Plains, GA to Joe and Annie Kitchen. He was in the U.S. Army over twenty three years and retired as a Sergeant First Class. While in the military he met Norma C. Phillips, known as Celeste, and they married on February 2, 1962. He enjoyed photography,Jazz music, playing bingo, and spending time with his family. He was said to have been a quiet giant and a legend at Fort Hood Army Base. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Norma C. Kitchen on January 20, 2008. He is survived by one son, Darwin Alexander of Killeen;one daughter, Alverta Smith of Temple;one sister, Addie Kitchen Wright of Plains, GA; two grandchildren and three great grandchildren. A Visitation will be held Friday, December 13, 2013 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Crotty Funeral Home in Belton Arrangements are entrusted to Crotty Funeral Home of Belton.
