Ione B. Dines

October 24, 1940 — June 29, 2025

Belton

Ione B. Dines, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed into the presence of the Lord on June 29, 2025, in Belton, Texas at the age of 84.

Born and raised in Portland, Maine, Ione graduated from Deering High School in 1958. At age 16, she moved to Peaks Island, Maine, where she lived until her graduation. Soon after, she relocated to Hartford, Connecticut, and began working as an administrator at Hartford Hospital. There, she met a young intern, Dr. Charles Dines, whom she married in 1968. Their marriage was a loving partnership that lasted 57 years until her passing.

The couple made their home in Connecticut, where Dr. Dines established a dental practice in Enfield. Ione worked alongside him as the office manager. In 1979, after selling the practice, the family moved to Maui, Hawaii. There, Ione operated a condominium management business and became deeply involved in the community. She was especially active with Maui Youth and Family Services and many other volunteer organizations.

In 1998, as empty nesters, Ione and her husband moved to a peaceful 65-acre property in Marshfield, Missouri. True to her generous spirit, Ione continued her community involvement, most notably through her work with the annual Cherry Blossom Festival. In 2016, then relocated to Belton, Texas, where she lived out her remaining years.

Ione was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Gertrude Brookings; her sister, Autry Jean; and her grandson, Joshua Wayne Dines.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Dr. Charles Dines, DDS; her brothers, William Brookings and Edward Brookings; and her seven cherished children: Jodie Dines Davis, Keith A. Dines, Brian W Dines, Rochelle Dines Speckman, Wayne S. Dines, Leslie D. Morphis (Francis), and Robert "Pro" Johnson. She also leaves behind 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren who will carry her memory forward.

Ione will be remembered by all who knew her for her selfless spirit, her boundless generosity, and her unwavering dedication to others. She touched countless lives and leaves a legacy of love and service that will not be forgotten.
