Isabel Reyes

Isabel Reyes, 94, of Temple passed away on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at her residence.

A visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. on Friday, December 10, 2021. Followed by a private graveside service.

Isabel was born on May 9, 1927, to Mariano and Carmen Escobar in Brooklyn, New York. She married Rafael Reyes Jr. on June 22, 1946, in Brooklyn. They were childhood sweethearts. Rafael was her first and last kiss. She worked in retail most of her life. Isabel was always such a deep thinker. She read books and always clipped out favorite quotes from articles from newspapers and magazines. Her children have fond memories of her writing quotes on a chalkboard outside their front door. She loved crafts, sewing, carpentry, reading, knitting, crocheting, watching Jeopardy, helping with her children’s activities, and shopping. Isabel loved old Latin music, dancing, and her family. She was an amazing mother and nana.  Isabel was always active and stayed busy. She was always inspirational to her children. They will miss her encouraging phrases and her cooking. Isabel was always supportive of her husband’s military career and was even the president of the NCO Wives Club.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Rafael Reyes Jr., her brothers, and her sister.

She is survived by her sons, Ricardo “Ricky” Reyes of Long Beach, CA, and Rafael “Rusty” Reyes III of Coeur d”Alene, ID; her daughters, Sandra Stanley of McDonough, GA, and Laura Frye of Temple; five grandchild, and three great grandchildren.

Arrangements are entrusted to Crotty Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Belton.
