James ""Bill"" Lawson

December 24, 1935 — June 2, 2020

James ""Bill"" Billy Lawson, 84, of Temple passed away on Tuesday, June 2, 2020 in a local nursing home. Bill was born to Leola and JB Lawson on December 24, 1935 in Belton. He graduated from Belton High School in 1954 and married his wife, Anita Barton, in 1957. Bill started his career as a businessman in the banking industry at numerous banks throughout Texas and Los Angeles, CA. In 1962, he settled back in close to family in Seabrook, TX, where he began working at Clear Creek Bank. The family moved to Beaumont, TX where he started a new career at Gold Star Builders and later became co-owner of B&B Builders. In the summer of 1978, Bill moved back to Belton to help take care of his parents and resided on the land his parents had purchased called Dogridge. He cared for his parents and his wife during their illnesses, and eventually, their passing. He retired from Lane Auto Sales and moved in with his daughter Connie in 2015 and remained with her until 2019. Bill was a member of both the Rotary Club and the Elks Lodge, played on a bowling league, and enjoyed dominos, cards, and cigars. A memorial service for Bill will be held on Friday, June 12, 2020 at 1:00 PM at Crotty Funeral Home in Belton with Pastor H.K. Ballard officiating. Bill is preceded in death by his wife, Anita Lawson; and his daughter, Janna Jarosek. Arrangements are entrusted to Crotty Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Belton.
