James Alfred Turner passed away on July 9, 2026 at the VA Hospital in Temple, Texas leaving behind a life that was full of laughter, loyalty, and a whole lot of personality. James was born on March 3, 1951 and from the start he had the kind of spirit that made people smile before he even said a word. He carried himself with the easy confidence of a man who knew how to enjoy life, and he had a gift for turning ordinary moments into memorable ones. If there was a joke to be made, James usually found it. If there was a room to brighten, he did it without even trying. He was funny, friendly, and interesting, which is a pretty solid resume for a man who also managed to make people feel like they had known him forever. James served his country in the United States Army, an experience that reflected his sense of duty and strength of character. Later, he worked at Pactiv Corp of Temple, where he was known as a dependable presence and a good man to have around. He brought the same steady work ethic to his job that he brought to the rest of his life, along with a sense of humor that could make even a long day feel a little lighter. He understood that hard work mattered, but he also knew that a good laugh could carry a person a long way. Outside of work, James enjoyed the simple pleasures that made life sweet. He loved country music, dancing and playing bingo. James knew how to have a good time without making a big production out of it, which is a rare talent and one worth celebrating.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years Kathy Turner, and his daughter, Lisa Flores. Grandchildren- Crista Turner, Benito Flores, Crisleen Torres, and Chloe Torres. Brothers- Delan (Pam) Turner and Danny Turner, and Sister- Ashley(Hyan)Leandro. James also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.  James was preceded in death by his parents, T.D. Turner and Pauline Turner, and by his siblings, Owen Turner, Kenneth Turner, Paula Pacha, Terry(Julia)Turner and Patricia(Steve) Small.

His family was an important part of his life, and the bonds he shared with them were built on love, shared memories, and the kind of stories that tend to get told again and again because they are just too good to leave alone. James will be remembered for his humor, his friendliness, and the way he could make people feel welcome with very little effort. He had the kind of personality that did not need an introduction, because once you met him, you remembered him. His life was a blend of service, work, family, music, and laughter, and that is a pretty fine way to be remembered. Though he is gone, the sound of his laughter, the warmth of his presence, and the joy he brought to others will remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
