Janice Arlene Matlock

May 3, 1939 — July 31, 2020

Jan Holton Matlock went to be with our Lord and Savior on July 31, 2020. She was born in Dallas, Texas to W.O. and Everlyn Holton on May 3,1939. She grew up in Oak Cliff, Texas where she attended Sunset High School. She continued her education at Arlington College where she attained a degree as a Registered Nurse. She worked in the Emergency Room at St. Paul Hospital for over 10 years Jan was an adventurous ""go getter"". She attained her private pilot and commercial pilot's license to fly. She went on to aerobatics in the air through Duane Cole's School of Aerobatics in Fort Worth, Texas. She performed the public relations duties for the 1969 Works War II Air Show in Fort Worth and the1970 Saint Louis Air Races, T-6 Tournament and World War II Air Show. She then turned her ambitions to a real estate career in Arlington, Texas and earned the Graduate Realtor® Institute certification. Soon she opened her own real estate company, Jan Almand Realtors. She received several Multi-Million Dollar Seller awards in the 1970's. She advanced into commercial real estate and onto a career as a custom home builder. To complete her real estate career she became a residential developer and utilized her building skills building custom homes in the residential community she designed. Jan loved to read, cook, sew and write poetry. She wrote many Christian poetic bulletins for her Sunday School class at the First Baptist Church in Dallas and a book titled ""The Elusive American Dream"" for first time home buyers. She was an accomplished seamstress, woodworker and gardener. She was married to the love of her life, Stephen Matlock for 29 years. Together, they forged many long lasting relationships, traveled and shared the love of family. Jan was known as ""Mimi"" to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved celebrating holidays with them, especially Christmas. Jan Holton Matlock is preceded in death by her parents, W.O. and Everlyn Holton, sister Barbara Holton Allison, grandson Jeremy White and granddaughter Hannah Trate. She is survived by Husband Stephen G. Matlock of Belton, Tx, sons William ""Rocky"" White and Rick White and wife Tricia of Hillsboro, Tx; Daughter Everlyn White Trate Humphrey and husband Ethan of Bruceville, Tx, step son John Matlock and wife Maria of Budapest, Hungary, step-daughter Jill Matlock MacKenzie and husband Max Of Miami, FL; sisters Shirley Holton Packer and family of Rockwall, TX, Linda Holton Champlin and family of Gatesville, Tx and brother Bill Holton of San Pablo, CA; grandchildren Heather Moore, Abbey White, Madison Trate, Roman Matlock and Sophie Matlock. Jan loved her many nieces and nephews as if they were her own children. Jan's family would like to thank members of Baylor Scott and White Hospital of Temple ER, ICU and Palliative Care Units for their compassion and attentiveness in Jan's last days.
