Jerek James Foster, 34, of Troy passed away unexpectedly on Monday, June 22, 2026, following a tragic accident. He was born on February 22, 1992, in Temple, Texas, and he lived his life with the kind of energy, grit, and heart that left a lasting mark on everyone who knew him. His life reflected love, strength, and devotion, and he will be remembered not only for what he built with his hands, but for the love he poured into his family and the joy he brought into every room he entered.
Jerek was the son of Frances Yanez-Barry and the late, Gregg Lad Foster, and he carried the values of family, hard work, and loyalty with him throughout his life. He was also deeply loved by his brother, Chris Yanez, and his wife Kelly , and niece Ariel of Troy, his sister, Rikka Diaz, and her husband Vincent of Willis, his step father, Douglas Barry of Troy, his aunt, Carrie Johnson of Tennessee, his grandmothers, Shirley Foster of Tennessee and Felipe Yanez of Temple, and his in-laws, Mark and Tina Lewis of Temple. He also had lots of aunts, uncles, and cousins that also loved him dearly. Each of these relationships helped shape the man he became, and each one stands as a reminder that a life rooted in love can leave a powerful legacy. He was preceded in death by his father, Greg Lad Foster, his cousin, Jeffery Morales, and his grandfather, John Yanez.
He was a proud graduate of Troy High School and later graduated from the fire academy through McLennan Community College, showing early on that he was drawn to service, discipline, and responsibility. Jerek was the kind of man who did not shy away from hard work or challenge. He owned his own roofing company, Foster Roofing, and through that business he demonstrated what it means to build something with integrity, determination, and pride. He was handy, loving, and funny, and those qualities came through in the way he worked, the way he spoke, and the way he cared for the people around him.
Above all else, Jerek was a devoted husband and father. He is survived by his wife, Melainie Loraine Foster of Troy, and by the children who were the center of his world, his sons, Julian James Foster, Jameson Lad Foster, and Jett Benjamin Foster Ralston, and his daughter, Story Jeyell Foster. His wife and children were his greatest joy, his deepest purpose, and the people for whom he gave his very best every single day. His sons looked up to their daddy so much, and even in the smallest details, they mirrored him, including the way they walked. He carried his youngest son all the time, even though he was no longer a small child, because that was the kind of father Jerek was. He was strong, affectionate, present, and unafraid to show his love.
Jerek lived boldly and authentically. He enjoyed playing his guitar, fishing, being outdoors, and expressing himself through tattoos. He was known for being shirtless always, a detail that many will remember with a smile because it perfectly captured his easygoing, carefree spirit. He had a way of making life feel lighter, even when the world was heavy. His humor, his warmth, and his natural ability to connect with people made him unforgettable. He did not just live life, he showed others how to live it with courage, loyalty, and heart.
There is a lesson in Jerek’s life for all who knew him. It is that a man’s true measure is not found in the length of his days, but in the depth of his love, the strength of his character, and the impact he leaves behind. Jerek was a man who showed up, worked hard, loved deeply, and laughed freely. He built a life that mattered. He built a family that will carry his name, his spirit, and his memory forward. He built a legacy of love that cannot be erased.
Though his time here ended far too soon, the example he set remains. His family and friends will remember his voice, his smile, his strength, and the unmistakable way he made people feel seen and valued. They will remember a man who was full of life, full of heart, and full of the kind of love that does not fade. Jerek James Foster will be missed beyond words, but he will also be honored through the lives he touched and the family he cherished so deeply. His story is one of devotion, hard work, faith, and love, and that story will continue to inspire all who carry him in their hearts.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that memorial donations be made through Jerek’s obituary page at www.crottyfh.com. Contributions will go toward supporting his children and honoring the love and devotion he had for them.
