Lawanda Joann Alley, known lovingly to her family as Neno and to many as Joann, was born on June 14, 1937, in Waco, Texas, and passed away peacefully on October 1, 2026, in Temple, Texas. She lived a life marked by grace, purpose, and quiet strength, leaving behind a legacy that continues to inspire all who knew her.
Joann carried herself with dignity and warmth, embodying the words selfless, thoughtful, and loving. She believed in showing up for people with a generous heart and a steady spirit, making a lasting difference through the quiet care she offered others.
Professionally, Joann built a meaningful career of service, retiring as Public Relations Director for First Community Title. Her poise, professionalism, and genuine ability to connect with others left a lasting impression on her colleagues and community. She was also a dedicated Red Carpet Ambassador and an active member of the Rotary Club, where her commitment to service shone brightly.
Faith was the cornerstone of Joann’s life. As a Christian, her beliefs gave her strength, comfort, and direction. Her faith was not merely spoken, but lived out daily, guiding her actions and making her a steadfast source of encouragement to those around her.
Outside of her professional and community involvements, Joann found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved reading, baking, and making candy, bringing creativity and sweetness into her home and sharing delicious treats with family and friends.
She is survived by her sons, Brad and Dyke, who carry forward her memory with love and gratitude. She also leaves behind six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, each of whom was uniquely touched by her devotion.
Joann’s life reminds us that true impact is found in steady faith, gentle words, and a heart that chooses love.
