John Wayne Wendler, a beloved truck driver who touched the lives of many, passed away on December 26, 2023, at the age of 74 in Holland, Texas. Born on August 6, 1949, in Erath County, John led a life filled with love, dedication, and the joy of bringing together.
Graduating from high school in 1969, John embarked on a successful career as a truck driver and dedicated decades of hard work to his profession. His commitment to his job was unwavering until his well-deserved retirement in 2015. John's fellow truck drivers recognized him as a friendly companion on the road, always ready to extend a helping hand or offer words of encouragement.
Throughout his life, John cherished spending time with his family and made it a priority to maintain strong bonds with loved ones. As he traveled between family homes during his rounds, he would surprise them with unexpected visits that brought smiles to their faces. With John around, you never knew when he would show up in your driveway ready to bring joy and laughter into your day was just his way — spontaneous and full of life.
John's proudest was undoubtedly being there for his daughters every step of the way. Whether it was their important events or gathering with the entire family, he never missed an opportunity to show them his unwavering love and support. His presence radiated and comfort, making every moment feel special and cherished.
In addition to his dedication as a father, John built lasting relationships with many relatives and friends who will forever treasure the memories they shared together. He leaves behind two daughters: Brandy Wendler and Brianne Lisenbe, both of Salado; two brothers: Jack Wendler of Holland and Jerrod Wendler of Vernon, TX; three sisters: Jimmie Bratton of Salado, Sue Williams of Troy, and Joan Landes of Conroe. John also leaves behind eight grandchildren, Brittany Barton, Destaney Norman, Dylan Gulledge, Kalob Chipman, Hunter Eaton, Bradlynn Eaton, Cade Lisenbe, Kutter Lisenbe, and eleven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will take place on January 3, 2024 at Crotty Funeral Home from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, providing an opportunity for all who knew John to share stories and find solace in each other's presence. The funeral service will be held on January 4, 2024, at 2:00 PM at the 3C Cowboy Fellowship Church in Salado, Texas.
In this time of grief, let us remember John with gratitude for the beautiful connections he fostered among us all. May his spirit live on forever in our hearts as we carry forth his love and kindness into the world.
