Joyce Earline Anderson

Joyce Earline Cox Anderson, age 92, passed peacefully into the presence of her Lord and Savior on June 21, 2026, in Georgetown, Texas.

Joyce was born on April 25, 1934, in Lawton, Oklahoma, to E.G. Cox and Hazel Bay Cox. She spent her early years on her grandparents' farm in Sterling, Oklahoma, before returning to Lawton, where her mother married Alfred Penland, a man Joyce dearly loved and respected.

On August 4, 1961, Joyce married the love of her life, Thomas Robert "Andy" Anderson, Jr. Shortly after their marriage, the couple was stationed in Frankfurt, Germany. Following their time overseas, they returned to Texas, living in Florence and Killeen before settling in Harker Heights, where they would spend more than fifty years building a home filled with faith, love, and hospitality.

Joyce was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Together, she and Andy raised eight children and lovingly opened their hearts and home to many others who needed a place of belonging and care. Her home was a refuge, and her life was marked by generosity, compassion, and unwavering devotion to her family.

After twenty-two years of faithful service, Joyce retired from Civil Service as a Dental Assistant at Fort Hood, Texas. She approached her work with diligence and kindness, touching the lives of countless people throughout her career.

Most importantly, Joyce loved Jesus. Having met her Lord and Savior as a young girl, her faith remained the foundation of her life. She faithfully ensured her family was in church every Sunday and modeled a life of prayer and devotion. In January 2000, Joyce and Andy became founding members of Destiny World Outreach Center. Demonstrating extraordinary faith and commitment, they mortgaged their paid-off home to help launch the church. Joyce faithfully served at the Information Desk and was known as a mighty prayer warrior on the church's intercessory team.

In 2022, Joyce moved to Georgetown, Texas, where she made her home at The Oscar at Georgetown retirement community. There she enjoyed wonderful care, meaningful friendships, and many cherished memories. She often spoke of the blessing of this season of life and treasured the friendships she formed there.

Joyce's greatest joy was her family. She eagerly anticipated every visit, phone call, and FaceTime conversation. Her love, prayers, wisdom, and encouragement will remain a lasting legacy for generations to come.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Thomas Robert "Andy" Anderson, Jr.; and her son, Michael David RedElk.
