Obituary

Listen to Obituary

Kyla “Oliver” Elizabeth Castillo, 17, died on the 11th of June 2026 at her home in Killeen, Texas. She was born in Austin, Texas on January 20, 2009, to parents Heather and Paul Castillo.

Kyla had a spark that lit up every room she entered. She was full of energy, curiosity, and laughter; always eager to explore the world and experience it in her own way.

A creative soul, she spoke through music, art, and writing. Her stylized drawings drew people in and left the world around her subtly transformed. She loved animals and had a special way of communicating with them. She would light up every time her beloved dog Elvis would run to her.

Kyla was deeply loved by her friends and family, and everyone could sense her kindness and sensitivity. She had a way of making others feel seen, often reaching out to support anyone who was struggling. She held strong opinions and loved sharing the ideas that mattered to her.

She is survived by her parents; her siblings, Zach, Ashke, and Rowan; her grandparents, Michael Castillo, Randy and Julie Rainwater, Bob Colker and Noreen James, Ronald James, many cousins; and her dearest of friends Axel and Jayden.

Services will be held Thursday June 18, 2026 at 2 pm at the Crotty Funeral Home of Belton.
