Lorenzo Garcia, 86, of Belton entered eternal life on Wednesday May 16, 2018 at his residence, surrounded by his loved ones. Private family services will be held on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at 10:30 A.M. at Crotty Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, Texas where he will be laid to rest. Lorenzo was born on August 9, 1931 in Hatch New Mexico to Manuel and Nasaria Gonzales Garcia. He was fondly known to his family as ""Lencho"". He married Sharon Lane and she preceded him in death in August 2012. Wanting to make a better life for himself at the age of 15 he joined the U.S. Marine Corp in 1946. He served in World War II, and in 1948 he joined the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War. Lorenzo worked in nursing at Central Texas Veterans Health Care System and had a combined 52 years in federal service, he retired in 2000. Lorenzo was a hard working man. He always had two jobs. He loved yard work and for fun he enjoyed going to the casinos. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Lorenzo loved his pets. In his younger years he loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing. Survivors are the mother of his children, Angelica Garcia of Temple; two sons, Michael Garcia of Temple and David Garcia of Waco; two daughters, Sylvia Santana and Diana Cespedes both of Temple; two sisters, Lucy Sanchez of Las Cruces, NM.,Estella Reyes of San Jose, CA, 9 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren. Lorenzo was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon Garcia: one son, Richard Garcia; one grandson Rick Garcia; one brother, Pete Garcia; three sisters, Ramona Levine,Refugia ""Cuca"" Carbajal, and Lita Flores. Serving as casket bearers will be Norberto Santana, Richard Pereira, Nicolai Cespedes, Elijah Watkins, Aiden Pereira, and Caleb Santana. Crotty Funeral Home of Belton is in charge of arrangements.
