Maria G. Villanueva, lovingly known as "Chuy," passed away peacefully on March 11, 2026, in Temple, Texas. Born on November 14, 1940, in San Rafael, San Carlos Tamaulipas, Mexico, Maria’s life was a vibrant tapestry woven with love, devotion to family, and cherished memories.
Maria dedicated her career to working with Mastercraft in Mount Pleasant, Texas, and Western Hatcheries in Moffat, Texas. Her work ethic and dedication were reflections of her deep commitment to providing for those she loved.
She was, above all, the best mom and Grandma—“mami”—anyone could ask for. Her children and grandchildren were the heart and soul of her existence. Maria’s gifts to them were numerous: a boundless love, wisdom shared through storytelling, and the joy of her tender presence. She delighted in telling stories about her childhood memories, immersing her family in the rich heritage of her past.
Maria's passions extended beyond her family. She found great joy in music, often dancing with grace and laughter, filling any room with warmth and light. Cooking was also one of her profound joys, with each meal prepared lovingly to nourish not just the body but the spirit. Her favorite color was yellow, a reflection of the sunshine she carried inside her, and she held a special fondness for yellow roses and sunflowers—flowers that echoed her bright and radiant spirit.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Irma Mendez and Angelica Maria Azua, along with Angelica’s husband, Anselmo. Her legacy lives on vibrantly in her grandchildren: Nubia Sauceda, Julio Cesar Sauceda, Jose Giral Jr., Vicente Morado, Vanessa Parker, Isaac Morado, Alan Cruz, Ivan Cruz, and Lucia Mendez. The love and laughter she nurtured will continue to blossom through them, a testament to her enduring influence.
Maria was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Maria Elena Ramirez De La Fuente and Teodolo Guevara Malacara, and her brother, Joel Guevara Ramirez. Though they are gone, their spirits remain entwined with hers, eternally part of the rich roots from which her life grew.
As we remember Maria G. Villanueva, we honor a woman whose heart was as warm as the sunflowers she adored, whose life was a melody of love, and whose memories will forever dance in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten—a precious mami, a guiding light, and a beloved soul who made life brighter with every step she took.
