Matthew G. Canava

July 22, 1958 — December 29, 2021

Matthew G. Canava, 63, of Georgetown, passed away Wednesday, December 29th, 2021, at a Round Rock Hospital.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Crotty Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Belton. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at Full Gospel Holiness Church also known as Casa De Dios FGH Church in Bartlett.

Matthew was born on July 22, 1958, to Matilde and Romana Canava in Belton. He attended Sul Ross State University where he met his wife, Mary E. Castillo. They married on June 2, 1979, in Alpine, Texas. He joined the Airforce and retired from the Airforce Reserves after serving twenty-five years. Matthew was a devoted Christian and loved sharing the word of God. He attended Casa De Dios FGH Church in Bartlett and often shared the word at the pulpit.  Matthew loved being a husband, father, and grandfather. He was always a hard worker. His favorite place was to be at home in his recliner. Matthew was such a kind soul and never met a stranger. Matthew was a prominent business owner of Whitestone Tire Center in Georgetown and loved serving his community. He enjoyed the outdoors, restoring cars, and especially Studebakers.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Matilde and Romana Canava.

Matthew is survived by his loving wife, Mary E. Canava of Georgetown; his daughters, Melinda Raquel Canava, and husband, Joshua Fagner of Little River Academy, and Victoria Lynn Canava and husband, Christopher Copeland of Schwertner; his brothers, Albert Canava of Clyde, and Noe Canava of Holland; his sisters, Beatrice Canava of Temple, Ruth Torres of Donna, Bertha Canava of Irving, Ester Canava of Houston, and Maricela Canava of Dallas; five grandchildren, Mikaela, Mia, Madison, Miles, and Bonus grandson, Ethan; twenty two grandanimals, and numerous family members and friends.
