Michael Walter Hunt, a beloved husband and devoted family man, passed away unexpectedly on May 20, 2026, at his home in Belton, Texas. Born on October 5, 1960, in West Point, New York, Michael’s life was marked by dedication, hard work, and an unwavering love for those closest to him.
Michael spent most of his life working as a painter, a trade through which he not only earned his livelihood but also took great pride in making homes beautiful and welcoming. He was also a remarkable fixer of all things; whether a leaky faucet or a stubborn engine, Michael could always be counted on to bring things back to life. His hands were steady, his mind sharp, and his spirit generous.
He served honorably in the army, a testament to his commitment and courage, values that guided him throughout life. When he wasn’t working or serving, Michael found joy in tinkering with cars and anything related to engines. Riding his Harley motorcycle was one of his greatest pleasures, offering him the freedom of the open road and moments of peaceful reflection.
Though Michael’s talents and interests were many, his proudest accomplishment was always his family. He loved them fiercely and cherished the time spent together. His love was the foundation of his life, a constant source of strength and warmth.
Michael leaves behind those who loved him dearly: his siblings Casey Hunt of Belton, Clarence Hunt of Pea Ridge, and Teresa Baxter of Colcord, Oklahoma. He is also remembered fondly by his stepchildren, who were lucky to share in his kindness and wisdom.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, his parents Henry and Colleen Hunt, and his sister Cindy Dixon. Their memories live on in Michael’s heart and in the hearts of all who knew him.
As we remember Michael Walter Hunt, we hold close the image of a man who lived fully, loved deeply, and served faithfully. His legacy is one of strength, love, and the quiet heroism of a life well-lived. He will be profoundly missed but fondly remembered by all whose lives he touched.
