Odessa Faye
Sherwood

Crotty Funeral Home & Cremation Services
2:00 - 4:00 pm (Central time)
Odessa Faye Sherwood, lovingly known as Odie, was born on July 31, 1954, in Belton, Texas, and she passed away on April 10, 2026, in Temple, Texas, after her body grew weary and failed her gentle spirit. She was a woman whose life was marked by tenderness and grace, and she carried herself with a loving heart, a kind manner, and a selfless soul. Those who knew her will remember the warmth she gave so freely, the comfort she offered so naturally, and the quiet strength that made her presence feel like home.
Odie was born to John and Thelma Morris, both deceased, and she was part of a large and loving family that shaped her life in many ways. She was preceded in death by eleven brothers and sisters, her daughter, Tina Hughes, and her son in law, William Jake Edmondson. Odessa is survived by her brothers Wilburn Morris, Ted Morris, and Carl Morris. She also leaves behind her significant other, Edward Wade, who shared in her days and memories. Her children, Terri Joe and Clinton Tanner , Calvin Jack Hughes, Thelma Edmondson and Daniel, Patty Chiodo, Scott and Elizabeth Morris, will carry her love in their hearts forever. She was a proud grandmother to Alina, Aryan, Autumn, Aaron, Hailey, Gabriella, Aubrey,Natalie, Andalynn, KayLenne, Azarion, Grayson, Kyla, Ray, Joan, Angela, Dalton, and Kayla, and she was blessed with a great-grandbaby, Octavia, who brought another sweet note into her family song.
Her life was filled with simple joys that shone like stars on a quiet night. She loved westerns and anything to do with nails and dresses, and she found comfort in the sound and feel of the rain. Dream catchers held a special place in her heart, as did the thrill of gambling and the joy of tinker hunting, especially when she could share those moments with her grandchildren. These pleasures were not grand in the worldly sense, but they were deeply hers, and they reflected the beauty of a woman who knew how to find happiness in the little things. Her days were made brighter by laughter, by family, and by the small adventures that became treasured memories.
Odie was the kind of woman whose kindness lingered long after she had left the room. She gave love without keeping score, and she offered care without asking for praise. Her selfless nature touched many lives, and her loving spirit made others feel seen, valued, and cherished. She had a way of making ordinary moments feel special, whether she was watching a western, admiring a fresh set of nails, listening to the rain, or heading out in search of hidden treasures with the grandkids by her side. In all she did, she left behind a trail of warmth that time cannot erase.
Though her earthly journey has ended, the memory of Odie will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved her. Her family will remember her laughter, her gentle ways, and the love she gave so freely. They will remember a woman who met life with tenderness, who held her family close, and who made her days count through kindness and care. Her story is one of love lived well, and her legacy is written not only in dates and names, but in the countless moments of comfort and joy she shared with others.
As the poet Robert Frost once wrote, “In three words I can sum up everything I’ve learned about life: it goes on.” Odie’s life went on in every heart she touched, and her memory will continue to shine in the lives of her children, grandchildren, great-grandbaby, siblings, and all who were blessed to know her. Though she has departed this world, her love remains, gentle as rain and lasting as the sweetest song.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2026 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Crotty Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Belton. A celebration party for her will be held as well with the details posted soon. After her visitation she will be cremated and her final resting place will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Belton.
