Patricia "Janie" Hyde, beloved  mother, sister and friend, passed away February 7, 2024, in Temple, Texas. Born on September 29, 1958, in Killeen, Texas, Janie lived a life filled with love, compassion, and dedication.


Janie's career was an essential part of her life. For fifteen years, from 2001 until her retirement in 2016, she worked as a TDCJ corrections officer in Gatesville. Her commitment to justice and public service was evident every day as she carried out her duties with utmost professionalism and dedication.


Beyond her career, Janie was known for her caring nature and love for animals. She had a special place in her heart for furry friends and ensured the neighborhood cats were always well-fed. Her compassionate spirit extended not only to humans but also to the creatures that brought joy and comfort into her life.


An independent and sentimental soul, Janie treasured every card she ever received. Each one held sentimental value that reminded her of cherished memories and connections with loved ones. Her collection of cards became a testament to the deep bond she shared with family and friends throughout her lifetime.


In her leisure time, Janie found solace in literature and crime movies. Being an avid reader allowed her to explore different worlds and ideas while expanding her knowledge. Crime movies captivated her attention with their thrilling narratives and intricate storytelling. Through these hobbies and interests, Janie found joy in immersing herself in captivating tales.


On February 17th, 2024, we will gather at Crotty Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Belton to honor Janie's memory. 

The memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday February 17, 2024 at Crotty Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Belton with Pastor H.K. Ballard officiating. .


Janie's legacy lives on through her surviving family and friends. She is survived by her loving daughter, Christa Phillips of Olathe, KS, who will forever carry her mother's spirit in her heart. Janie's three sisters, Dolores Leschuck of Belton, Ruth Solomon of Bullard, TX, and Juanita Leschuck of Washington State, will fondly remember the special bond they shared as siblings.


While we mourn the loss of Janie, we find comfort in knowing that she is reunited with her beloved husband Randy Hyde who preceded her in death in 2016. In addition to Randy, she was also preceded in death by two brothers: Clyde Benton in 2004 and Robert Benton in 1998. They are together once again, watching over us as guardian angels from above.


Janie's kind heart, unwavering dedication, and affectionate nature leave an indelible mark on all who knew her. She touched countless lives with her love and compassion, reminding us all of the importance of embracing the cherished moments spent with family and friends.


As we bid farewell to Janie today, let us remember the love she shared, the kindness she embodied, and the memories she gifted us all. May her soul find eternal peace, knowing that she made a difference in this world. Rest in peace dear Janie; you will be deeply missed but forever cherished in our hearts.
