Paula C. Johnston, born on August 17, 1947, in Canon City, Colorado, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2026, in Belton, Texas. A woman of remarkable warmth and kindness, Paula’s loving spirit touched all who knew her, leaving behind a legacy defined by devotion to her family and a gentle heart.
Throughout her life, Paula was a dedicated tax consultant and bookkeeper, a career in which she demonstrated precision and care. Beyond her professional achievements, she was known for her loving and generous nature, always putting family and friends at the center of her world.
Paula’s passions were many and deeply rooted in love—she treasured her grandkids and great-grandkids above all else, her eyes lighting up at every moment spent with them. Family was her greatest joy, and she cherished time surrounded by loved ones. Her fondness extended to horses and the vibrant color purple, both of which reflected her spirited and graceful personality. She was a devoted animal lover, especially of her dogs, and had a special place in her heart for roses, which symbolized the beauty and tenderness she carried within.
She is survived by her beloved family: daughter Tonja Montgomery and her spouse Trey of Morgans Point, Texas; her sons James Johnston of Illinois; and Frank Tate Johnston and his wife Micki of Temple, Texas. Paula’s cherished grandchildren include Tayler Montgomery and her husband Chris Bruner, John-Michael Johnston and Kaylen, Tiphani Montgomery and Dylan Laxton, Tucker Montgomery and Addison, and Tobie Montgomery and Brylee Holmes. Her great-grandchildren—Braelyn Bruner, Rowan Rea, Hudson Laxton, Karsyn Montgomery, Holley Laxton, Henlee Laxton, Maddex Montgomery, Olivia Johnston, and Aubrey Johnston—ensured her legacy of love would continue across generations.
Paula was preceded in death by her dear parents, Wellborn and Lentie Clark; her loving husband, Billy Johnston; and her brother, WF Clark Jr.
