Richard Ungar passed away on September 13, 2026, in Belton, Texas, at the age of 87. He was born on April 27, 1939, in New Castle, Pennsylvania, and lived a life marked by steadfast service, deep devotion to family, and enduring love for those closest to him.

For 30 years, Richard served in the United States Army Signal Corps, a career that reflected both discipline and dedication. His military service took him across the world, including two tours in Germany, service in France, two tours in Vietnam, and assignments in Panama and Japan. Through those many years and many places, he answered his country’s call with commitment and resolve.

Beyond his years in uniform, Richard will be remembered most tenderly as a family man. He was a best friend to his wife, his sons, and his three grandchildren, and that closeness shaped the heart of his life. His love was not distant or reserved, but personal, faithful, and constant, expressed in the bonds he kept and the presence he gave to those he cherished.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Evelyn Ungar of Nolanville, Texas; by his sons, Sean Greggory Lee Ungar of Baytown, Texas, and Eric Christian Lee Ungar of Chapelle Hill, Texas; and by his grandchildren, Jonathan Hunter Lee Ungar, Tristan Exie Lee Ungar, and Jenna Evelyn Rose Ungar. In them, and in the love they shared with him, Richard’s legacy continues with warmth and strength.

He was preceded in death by his father, Christian Ungar, and his mother, Rose Ungar.

Richard Ungar will be remembered with gratitude for his honorable military service and with affection for the kindness, friendship, and devotion he gave so freely to his family. His life was one of loyalty and love, and his memory will remain a lasting blessing to all who knew him.
