Ronald Dockrey, affectionately known by friends and family as Ronny, was born on November 11, 1948, in Temple, Texas. He completed his education at Killeen High School, graduating in the class of 1967 before pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Mary Hardin Baylor University in 1971. Ronny led a life rich with purpose, passion, and a remarkable dedication to his community, leaving behind an indelible legacy upon his passing on October 8, 2025, at home, surrounded by memories of a life well-lived.
For many years, Ronny worked tirelessly as a home builder and Real Estate Broker, ultimately retiring as a licensed Tax Appraiser with the Bell County Tax Appraisal District. These were not just occupations for Ronny; they were expressions of his steadfast commitment to the community he loved, a testament to his keen sense of purpose and advocacy for the rights of the people of Bell County. His talent for politics and persistent nature shaped the lives of those around him, particularly inspiring his daughters and grandchildren to never shy away from challenges.
In retirement, Ronny embraced the role of a rancher, channeling his energy into cultivating a Beefmaster cattle herd. This life long passion exemplified his enduring love for the outdoors, which saw him become an avid outdoorsman with a zest for hunting and fishing across Texas and Colorado. It was the joy of sharing these experiences with his grandchildren—Emmalee, Case, Colt, and Cooper—that truly brought him immense happiness.
Ronny's personality mirrored the landscape of his beloved Texas—headstrong, a tad stubborn, but always with a twist of dry humor and a gift for storytelling. He had a unique ability to connect with anyone, making friends wherever he went. Never met a stranger, he made each encounter richer through his engaging tales and generous spirit.
Ronny is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Dockrey; daughters, Reyna Dockrey and Chelsea Anthony; son-in-law, Wesley Anthony; and brother, Greg Dockrey and family, along with many nieces, nephews, and countless friends who will cherish his memory. He is predeceased by his parents, C.L. and Margaret Dockrey, his brother Paul Dockrey, and his in-laws, Herman and Estelle Henze.
A visitation will be held on October 17, 2025, at Crotty Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Belton, Texas from 10:00 AM, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM. Those who knew Ronny will gather to celebrate the life of a man whose laughter, warmth, and unwavering spirit touched all. His legacy will endure in the hearts of his family and friends, a beacon of strength and resilience that will guide them through the days to come.
