Shawna “LaChelle” Turner, known lovingly to many as LaChelle, was born on January 3, 1982, in Temple, Texas, and passed away on April 6, 2026, in Belton, Texas, leaving behind a legacy of spirit, love, and kindness that will continue to inspire all who knew her.

LaChelle lived a life that reflected the very best of what it means to be strong in heart and generous in spirit. She was a woman who carried herself with confidence, warmth, and authenticity, and she made an impression wherever she went. Her life was not measured only by the years she lived, but by the lives she touched, the laughter she shared, and the love she gave freely. She was spirited in the truest sense, bringing energy and light into every room, and she had a way of making people feel seen, valued, and welcome.

She attended school in Belton, Texas, where she built the foundation of the person she would become. Her life was shaped by the values of family, faith, and perseverance, and she carried those values with her throughout her journey. LaChelle lived with a belief in grace, hope, and the power of love to carry people through both joy and hardship. Her faith was not simply something she held in her heart; it was something she lived through her actions, her compassion, and the way she treated others with kindness and respect.

LaChelle found joy in the things that brought people together and created lasting memories. She loved music, dancing, hunting, fishing, and spending time with her family. These were not just hobbies to her; they were part of the rhythm of her life and the way she connected with the world around her. Whether she was enjoying a favorite song, sharing laughter, or making memories outdoors, she embraced life with a full heart and a fearless spirit. She understood that the most meaningful moments are often the simple ones, and she treasured every opportunity to be present with the people she loved.

Family was at the center of LaChelle’s world. She was the beloved daughter of the late John Wesley Hitt III and the late Virginia Paulette Drake Hitt. She was the mother of her daughter, Skylar Thornton and her husband, Colton; and her sons, Carson Shaw, Wesley “Nash” Shaw and his partner, Madalyn, and Abram Shaw. She was also a grandmother to Paisley Shaw and Hayston Thornton, and was preceded in death by her grandson, Brazos Kai.

She is also remembered by her brothers, Randy Hitt, Joe Hitt, J.W. Hitt, and Darren Hitt; and by her sisters, Brenda Hitt and Amanda Chagnon. She was preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Payne. The bond she shared with her siblings was part of the story of her life, and those connections helped shape the strong, loving woman she became. Through every season, LaChelle understood the importance of family ties, shared memories, and standing together through life’s many changes.

Those who knew LaChelle will remember her as loving, kind, and full of life. She had a presence that could lift a spirit and a heart that could comfort others. She was the kind of person who reminded people to keep going, to keep believing, and to keep loving even when life was difficult. Her example speaks loudly now—it says that a life lived with courage and compassion matters, that being kind is never small, and that love leaves a mark that time cannot erase.

LaChelle’s journey on this earth has come to a close, but her influence remains alive in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who were blessed to know her. Her story is one of strength, faith, and devotion. Her memory will continue to encourage those she leaves behind to live boldly, love deeply, and cherish every moment. Though she is no longer here in body, the light she carried will continue to shine through the lives she touched, the lessons she taught, and the love she gave so freely.

A visitation will be held on April 22, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Crotty Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Belton, Texas, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM with Pastor Jackie Cox officiating. Following the service, a graveside service will take place at 12:30 PM at Resthaven Cemetery in Belton, Texas.
