Sheila Augusta Curley, age 78, of Killeen, Texas, a beloved mother, cherished sister, and proud grandmother, passed away on August 9, 2023, in Killeen, Texas. Born in Baltimore on April 30, 1945 to Frank and Mary Elaine Curley, Sheila dedicated her life to providing the best for her family and ensuring their happiness.
Funeral services for Sheila will be held at 6:00 P.M. on Monday, August 14, 2023 at Crotty Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Belton with H.K. Ballard officiating. After services her body will be cremated to have a memorial service at a later date in Baltimore, MD.
Sheila spent many years working in electrical manufacturing where she showcased her dedication and commitment. Her strong work ethic served as an inspiration to those around her, leaving a lasting impact on colleagues and friends alike. Despite the demands of her career, her role as a mother always took precedence.
As a single mother, Sheila's unwavering love and devotion to her son was evident in every aspect of her life. She worked tirelessly to provide him with a secure and loving environment. Her selflessness was truly remarkable as she continuously placed the needs of her family above all else. The sacrifices she made for them will be remembered forever.
Education played a paramount role in Sheila's life. She attended Dunbar High School in Baltimore where she built lasting friendships and participated actively as a cheerleader and track athlete. In her youth, she found joy in skating and dancing—activities that brought lightness and joy to her days.
Beyond her professional pursuits and dedication to family life, Sheila had a deep appreciation for jazz music. It served as the backdrop of many joyful moments throughout her life, instilling within her an everlasting love for its rhythms and melodies.
Sheila faced numerous health challenges throughout the course of her life but never allowed them to define or hinder her spirit. Her strength was inspiring to all who knew her. Despite these battles, Sheila persisted with grace and courage until the very end.
In addition to leaving behind a legacy defined by love and selflessness, Sheila accomplished much during her time with us. Above all else, she treasured being a mother. Her proudest achievement was raising her son Brian, who she loved and supported unconditionally. It was a joy for her to see him grow into a remarkable individual who continues to honor her memory.
Sheila is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Mary Elaine Curley. Her spirit lives on through her devoted son, Brian Curley of Killeen, Texas. She is also survived by her loving sisters, Jackie Davis, Brenda Diggs, and Phyllis Cooper—all residing in Baltimore, MD. Sheila's legacy will continue to thrive through her three grandchildren, Brandon Curley, Mark Curley, and Mia Curley, as well as her great-grandchild Miles.
Sheila Augusta Curley will forever be remembered for her strength, kindness, and unwavering love for her family. She touched the lives of all who knew her and leaves behind a legacy that will continue to inspire generations to come.
