Shelby Howard Rumfield Jr

Shelby was born on January 25, 1947 to Shelby and Leta Rumfield in Temple. He worked as a coach and teacher for Temple and Belton Independent School Districts. Shelby coached and taught thousands of children and impacted many lives. He retired from Belton High School after 33 years. He also worked with the Corps of Engineers on lake Belton. Shelby loved fishing and being near the lake, so this job was something he really enjoyed. His last days were spent doing what he loved most, watching his sons coach and his grandchildren play ball. Shelby enjoyed playing the dominoe game ""42"" and spending time with his family. Funeral services will be held at 10 :00 A.M. on Saturday, March 16, 2019 with visitation one hour prior to services from 9:00 A.M. to 10 :00 A.M. at First Baptist Church in Belton with Pastor Craig Pearson and Charlie Robinson officiating. In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Fellowship of Christian Athletes in honor of Coach Shelby. He was preceded in death by his brother, Ricki Lee Rumfield, on January 28, 2018. He is survived by his loving wife of over 53 years, Laverne Rumfield of Temple; his three sons, Jeffery Shayne Rumfield and wife Stacie Rumfield of Troy, Toby Lance Rumfield and wife Kari Rumfield of Denton, and Justin Brock Rumfield and wife Crystal Rumfield of Plano; his sister, Velvet Kay Rumfield of Temple; his seven grandchildren, Jeff, Zach, Samantha, T.J., Justin, Ava, Reese, and many cherished family members and friends.
